DIABETIC PATIENT DIET
Diabetes occurs when insulin production is inadequate or the body cells do not respond properly to insulin. Its most common symptoms include frequent urination, intense thirst and hunger, unusual weight gain or weight loss, fatigue, male sexual dysfunction, and numbness in hands and feet.
Balancing certain foods can help maintain health, improve overall well-being, and prevent future diabetes complications. Most especially a diet rich in vegetables, fruits, and healthful proteins.
Example of these food are :
Soup : Bitter leaf soup, Water leaf soup, Afang soup, Ewedu soup, Egusi soup, Ogbono soup, Black soup, Okra soup, Edikan Ikong, Tomato stew, Groundnut soup, White soup, Oha soup & Banga soup.
Staple food / swallow : Wheat, Wheatmeal swallow, Tuwo & Shinkanfa.

Berries : Blueberries, Blackberries, Strawberries, and Raspberries.
Others include : Beans, Walnuts, Citrus fruits, Berries, Chia seeds, African almond (Agbalomo), Irish potato, Unripe plantain, Fuku (cow lungs), Cow tongue, Corn, bush meat, Pap and milk with no sugar, Skinless chicken 🐔 or turkey, cow penis or testis, Periwinkles, Pepper soup with goat meat or fish, Goat meat, Quacker oats, soyabeans, small beans, shrimps or crayfish, Eat millet (Joro), cow leg, Nkwobi, walnuts, tiger nuts (Hausa groundnuts), Akara balls, chicken gizzard, agidi, moimoi, Okporoko stock fish, peanut butter, Cabbage, Fibre biscuits, Oatmeal, Garlic, Ginger supplements.
You can also take Pineapple, Water melon, Isi ewu, water yam, semovita & poundo yam in low quantity.
Foods high on the GI scale ( that increases blood sugar) include: White bread, Tapioca, Puffed rice, White rice, White pasta, Potatoes, Pumpkin, Melons, Refined sugar, Energy drinks, Coffee, Salty food, Alcohol, Fries, chips, Yam or Pounded yam, Cow intestines “shaki”, ring, or “round about”, ripe plantain, red meat, beer, dry gin, liquor or spirits, or any sort of soda ( coke, Fanta, Sprite, Seven Up, pepsi, Mirinda & malt except Amstel), junks.
